A “Yellow Card Program” is an industry training program which meets the safety standards required by Work Health and Safety (WHS), Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), and the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Acts and regulations in Australia to help provide a safer workplace for everyone.
It is mandatory that all operators of Elevated Work Platforms (EWPs) hold a valid “Yellow Card” (licence) in Australia. The training must cover the requirements of AS2550.10: Cranes, Hoists and Winches – Safe Use – Mobile Elevating Work Platforms.
This Yellow Card Training Course provides candidates with the comprehensive training in the safe use and operation of the different types of Elevated Work Platforms (EWPs). A “Yellow Card” is awarded to candidates who have undertaken and successfully completed the comprehensive EWP training.
Although the following machines are all classed as EWPs, each one is different in its use and operation and therefore requires separate training modules to be completed.
- Vertical Lift (VL)
- Scissor Lift (SL)
- Self Propelled Boom Lift (BL)
- Trailer Lift (TL)
- Truck Mounted Lift (TM)
- Advanced Boom (AB)
After the successful completion of the Yellow Card training, the operator is issued with a photo ID licence (Yellow Card Licence) and their details are added to the EWPA’s online database. The course must cover the requirements of AS2550.10: Cranes, Hoists and Winches – Safe Use – Mobile Elevating Work Platforms.
